that 54% of people who dine out regularly are cutting back on restaurant
spending because of the economy. Rising gas and food prices, home foreclosures
and a fear of recession are to blame.

As the economic recession continues unabated, more Americans are swearing off restaurant meals in a bid to curb spending.

That’s according to a study from Mintel, the Chicago-based consumer research firm, which finds that 54% of people who dine out regularly are cutting back on restaurant spending because of the economy.
